In every two-year registration period, realtors in Ontario are required to complete courses in continuing education.
In my first two years as a registrant with RECO — known as my “provisional” period — I was required to complete one elective (articling) course through the OREA Real Estate College. My choices included:
- Principles of Appraisal
- Real Estate Investment Analysis
- Principles of Mortgage Financing
- Principles of Property Management
In the end, I decided to take Principles of Mortgage Financing.
As some of you may recall, when I completed my pre-registration coursework last year, I published my final transcripts on this website.
Well, for this articling segment, I decided to do the same thing. Last Tuesday, I wrote my Principles of Mortgage Financing exam and this was the final result:
Principles of Mortgage Financing
Exam Date: February 18, 2020
Grade: 99
Status: Pass
There was never a doubt in my mind that I would pass this course, but I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t expect to score as high as I did on the exam. I spent a lot of time practicing mortgage calculations on a financial calculator, which helped.
